Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me, ...

I had a wonderful birthday week with Mom visiting. Rob took me fishing on Labor Day at the Klamath River for my birthday. We got up at 4 am and made sure we were on the river at sunrise.

Rob helped me wade in and stayed close by in case I felt dizzy or lost my balance. Here I am in the "line up" at the riffle early in the morning.

We missed one of the surges of salmon running up the river but it was a great day to be on the river.

We fished hard and I got pretty good at casting by the time we left at 2 pm. We were the last ones to leave the riffle. All I caught was a few rocks and Rob's line a couple of times. Here I am casting after practicing all day.

Rob caught the only fish of the day, a sucker. He said it didn't count but, I told him it had gills, was alive, and had a little fish mouth so it counted for something. I was so excited one of us caught something I grabbed the camera. Rob told me not to film it, that it wasn't worth it. Of course, I did it anyways.

I love flowers and this birthday I was showered with them. You can never ever have too many flowers. Rob brought me flowers home the night before my birthday.

Walking through the house is such a treat now. I received so many wonderful cards wishing me a happy birthday as well as offering support and encouragement. My phone was going all day on my birthday and I got to talk to many friends and family. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for making me feel so special.

Steven also went with Grammy and picked out some balloons for me including one with butterflies and one with Spiderman.

Mom carried on the family tradition of making my birthday cake from scratch using an old Betty Crocker cake recipe that no longer appears in the newer editions of the cookbook. Hmm, it was so good.
