The Cardoza's Come to Town!

Joan and Larry got here Thursday evening. The guys sat down and talked about how they were going to fix the fence. Last winter a large section of our fence blew loose. Rob had propped it up until we could get around to permanently fixing it. Steven also dug into the hand-me-down bag of clothes from Shane that Auntie Kim sent for him. Steven loves "Shane's clothes." There was a Steeler jersey in there and he has been wearing it since Thursday evening. Rob pulled his jersey out so they could be "football guys" together.

Friday morning Larry cooked his signture breakfast. A great breakfast to have on a "major labor" day. Biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, and hash browns.

After breakfast Larry started his chili. It is the best chili ever. My mom tasted some today and she agrees. We are planning on entering it into the "Chili Cook Off" here in Fortuna next summer.

Then the work began. Rob and Larry tore down the weak fence.

This included digging out some of the old concrete. Here's Rob, muscles rippling, busting concrete.

As you can see the weather was gorgeous. The rest of us sat outside and enjoyed the weather while the "labor camp" was going on. Steven's friend Damyn came over and the boys had a ball playing. The pair along with Mackenzie kept Joan and I busy.

Mackenzie had lots to say about was going.

Saturday afternoon my Mom, Grammy, arrived. Steven and I picked her up. The weather was gorgeous again. Larry fired up the new grill they had gotten Rob as an early birthday-christmas present and cooked up some tri-tip.

While we had cocktails outside.

Our friend Lisa came as well.

We had a nice time. Unfortunately Mom got a little sick. I don't think it was the one and a half gin and tonics she had. She said she had some spicy food earlier in the airport and had gone to bed at 2 am the night before. With all the stress and stuff I think she just over did it. She is doing great today and we have been relaxing and getting ready to head down to Stanford tomorrow for my pre-op appointment. We will be back on Thursday.
